In April 2025, the Centre for Research on Social Innovations (CRISES) at the Université du Québec à Montréal hosted the 7th CRISES International Conference, titled “Social Innovation as a Tool for Resistance and Transformation in Times of Crisis.” The conference brought together academics, social entrepreneurs, and policy-makers to exchange ideas about the role of social innovation in addressing social, economic, and environmental crises.

The EMES Network was represented by members of its Steering Committee and Network researchers, who presented case studies from various countries. Their presentations highlighted how innovative social-entrepreneurial practices can strengthen the resilience of local communities by providing sustainable solutions under challenging conditions.

Key Pillars of EMES Participation

  • Sharing Best Practices: Showcasing examples that have successfully operated during crises.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Networking among scholars, social entrepreneurs, and institutional actors.
  • Policy Recommendations: Proposals for integrating social innovation into national and European strategies.

In the coming months, EMES will publish the conference findings in international journals, organize thematic workshops, and participate in new Horizon Europe projects, with a focus on climate adaptation and social cohesion.
