The Series “The Reform Of The Social State”

Members of the Laboratory are involved in the series “The Reform of the Social State”, published by the leading Greek Publisher Papazisis (www.papazissi.gr.). Prof. Amitsis is the series Editor and D. Balourdos, G. Pierrakos, M. Staboulis, A. Stergiou, P. Tinios and Y. Yfantopoulos are members of the Editorial Board.

This series is a multidisciplinary initiative of members of the Greek academic community to support the launch of a genuine public debate on the reform of the Social State, highlighting the key modernization challenges and perspectives of the residual national social protection model, in the light of the economic crisis, demographic ageing, weakening of family networks and the emergence of new structural risks (long-term unemployment, over-indebtedness, poverty and social exclusion), which threaten the cohesion of Greek society. It hosts monographs, books and edited collections on the institutional and socio-political analysis of critical Social State interventions, with emphasis on social insurance, social welfare, social inclusion, health care, education, employment, vocational training and housing.

The series showcases original research that looks particularly at the nexus between ideology, rights, and policies in the social protection framework. It aims to open up interdisciplinary terrain and to develop new scholarship in social law and policy studies that is theoretically insightful and innovative, empirically rich and policy engaged.
