SOCIAL INSURANCE RESEARCH HUB
Dionysis Balourdos, PhD., MA and BA, is a member of the Social Insurance Research Hub at SARL. He is currently Research Director at the National Centre for Social Research, the leading public social research organization in Greece.
He has undertaken research and teaching since 1990 at various Universities in Greece and abroad in areas relating to demography, pensions, migration, employment, health and social care. He has also been providing services both to central administration services and local authorities in the context of high level policy, capacity building and research projects in Greece, Cyprus and the Balkan region (sectors: health, social care, employment, social entrepreneurship and third sector migration and asylum).
His research interests focus on the sustainability of health, social care, anti-poverty, employment and social entrepreneurship schemes; he is author and co-author of sixteen books and has published in international edited books and journals.
Spyridon Binioris
HEALTH CARE RESEARCH HUB
Spyridon Binioris, PhD., MBA and BA, is a member of the Health Care Research Hub at SARL. He is currently Professor of Business Administration in the Department of Business Administration at the University of West Attica.
He has undertaken research and teaching since 1986 in various Greek Universities in areas relating to management and funding of health care policies. He also serves as senior social policy consultant on health care management and administration.
His research interests focus on the management and funding of health care policies; he is author of four books and has published in Greek and international edited books and journals.
Konstantina Botsiou
RESEARCH HUB FOR THE HISTORY AND IDEOLOGY OF THE SOCIAL STATE
Konstantina Botsiou, PhD., MA. and BA in history, is the Head of the Research Hub for the History and Ideology of the Social State at SARL. She is currently Associate Professor of Modern History and International Politics in the Department of Political Science and International Relations at the University of the Peloponnese and serves as the Director of its Centre for Greek and International History (KEDIS).
She has undertaken research and teaching at various Universities in Greece and abroad in areas relating to Greek and European History, European Integration and Ideology. She served as board member of the National Library of Greece (2005-2008), the Academic Council of the Diplomatic Academy at the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2007-2008), the Academic Council of the Konstantinos Karamanlis Institute for Democracy (2001-2010), the Academic Council of the Hellenic Parliament Foundation for Parliamentarism and Democracy (2008-2010) and the Wilfried Martenscentre for European Studies in Brussels (2011-2014), while during 2001-2018 she was an executive at the Konstantinos Karamanlis Institute for Democracy.
Her research interests focus on Modern and Contemporary Greek and European History, History of European integration, Balkan History, Greek Foreign Policy and Transatlantic Relation; she is author and co-author of seventeen books and has published in Greek and international edited books and journals.
Michalis Fefes
SOCIAL ECONOMY AND SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP RESEARCH HUB
Michalis Fefes, PhD., LL.M. and BA in Law, is a member of the Social Economy and Social Entrepreneurship Research Hub at SARL. He is currently Associate Professor (topic: Legal Regime of Social Economy) in the Department of Social and Educational Policy at the University of Peloponnese.
He practices law since 1990 (member of the Athens Bar Association) and he has undertaken research and teaching at various Greek Universities in areas relating to social economy and social entrepreneurship. He has been providing services both to central administration agencies and local authorities in the context of capacity building and research projects (sectors: social entrepreneurship and third sector).
His research interests focus on the regulation of social economy and social entrepreneurship regimes; he is author of four books and has published in Greek and international edited books and journals.
Theodore Koutroukis
EMPLOYMENT AND LABOUR RELATIONS RESEARCH HUB
Theodore Koutroukis, PhD., MA and BA, is a member of the Employment and Labour Relations Research Hub at SARL. He is currently Assistant Professor of Labour Relations in the Department of Economic Studies at the Democritus University of Thrace.
He has undertaken academic research and teaching since 1997 in areas relating to education, vocational training and employment. He has also been providing services both to central administration agencies and local authorities in the context of high level policy, capacity building and research projects (sectors: employment, vocational training, labour relations, regional development, CSR). He is now a Mediator-Arbitrator of the National Organization of Mediation and Arbitration for the settlement of collective disputes.
His research interests focus on Employee Relations, Vocational Training, Negotiations, Labour Market and Human Resource Management; he is author and co-author of ten books and has published in international edited books and journals.
Stella Kyvelou-Chiotini
SOCIAL HOUSING RESEARCH HUB
Stella Kyvelou-Chiotini, PhD. and DEA in Spatial, Regional & Urban Planning, is a member of the Social Housing Research Hub at SARL. She is currently Associate Professor of Spatial Planning and Sustainable Development in the Department of Economic and Regional Development at the Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences.
She has undertaken research and teaching at various Universities in Greece and abroad in areas relating to European territorial development and cohesion. She also serves as senior policy consultant on behalf of national administrations and International Organizations.
In 2011 she was awarded by the French government as «Chevalier à l’ordre de Palmes Académiques» for her contribution in the field of sustainable development. She served as the Coordinator of the ESPON 2006 National Contact Point (2000-2006) and Director of the ESPON 2013 National Contact Point (2008-2015).
Her research interests focus on inclusive growth, spatial dimensions of poverty and social exclusion, spatial planning and affordable housing; he is author and co-author of ten books and has published in international edited books and journals.
Maria Mitrossili

Maria Mitrossili, PhD., MA and BA in Law, is Associate Professor of Health Law and Sociology of Law in the Department of Business Administration (Social Policy Unit) at the University of West Attica. She also serves as a member of the Governing Body of the Social Administration Research Lab.
She practices law since 1983 (member of the Athens Bar Association) and she has undertaken research and teaching at various Universities in Greece and abroad in areas relating to health and social care law and policies. She has been providing services both to central administration agencies and local authorities in the context of high level policy, capacity building and research projects (sectors: health and social care, asylum/migration, social entrepreneurship and third sector).
She has served as the first Greek Deputy Ombudsman for health and social welfare (1998-2003) and is now the President of the Special Committee on the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Mental Disorders (Ministry of Health, 2017-2022).
Her research interests focus on the regulation of health, social care and social entrepreneurship schemes; she is author and co-author of five books and has published in international edited books and journals.
Christos Morfakidis

Christos Morfakidis, PhD., LLM, MSc and BA in law, is a member of the Social Insurance Research Hub at SARL. He is currently Assistant Professor of Social Security Law in the Department of Social Work at the Democritus University of Thrace.
He practices law (member of the Komotini Bar Association) and has undertaken research and teaching at at the Democritus University of Thrace in areas relating to social security, constitutional and administrative law. He is a member of the European Institute of Social Security and other European networks.
His research interests focus on the regulation of social insurance, health and social welfare policies; he is author of two monographs and has published in Greek and international edited books and journals. Since 2019 he is a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Social Insurance Law, published in Greek by the leading law publisher Sakkoulas.
Anastasios Sepetis
OCCUPATIONAL WELFARE RESEARCH HUB
Anastasios Sepetis, PhD., MA and BA, is an Assistant Professor in the field of “Sustainable Development and Social Protection Policies and Finance” in the Department of Business Administration at the University of West Attica and a member of Research Hub for Social Management at the University of West Attica. He has undertaken research and teaching since 2003 in various Universities in Greece and abroad in the fields of Sustainable Development and Strategies of Corporate Environmental and Social Policy relating to International, European and comparative, management, finance, health, social protection, social economy and circular economy.
He served as President and CEO in different hospitals in Greece and as General Manager and Senior Consultant in big companies and organizations. He has also served as senior social policy consultant on behalf of national administrations and International Organizations, while he is a key expert in EU- and national projects in the fields of Sustainable and Environmental Policy, Sustainable Stock Market, Sustainable and Social Responsibility Investment, Corporate Social Responsibility, Sustainable Education, Social Enterprise Sustainable Public Governance, Sustainable Employment, Social Protection, Environmental and Sustainable health Care. He holds a certification authority for Environmental and Social Risk Analysis (ESRA) after collaborating with the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative and IEMA Certifications for Environmental Management System (ISO 14001, EMAS). Moreover, he is an Auditor for ISO 9001:2008.
His main research interests focus on Sustainable management and capital market finance, cooperation management, sustainable health, social protection, Sustainable Education and Employment policies; he is author and co-author of over thirty papers and has published in international edited books and journals. He has also published books in the field of Sustainable Development, entitled “Environmental and Sustainable Management in Public Health” and “Sustainable Development Finance” by Papazisis Publishing», which are currently taught in several academic institutions of the country.
Miltos Staboulis

Miltos Staboulis, PhD., MA and BA, is a member of the Employment and Labour Relations Research Hub at SARL. He is currently Assistant Professor of Labour Economics in the Department of Educational and Social Policy at the University of Macedonia.

Angelos Stergiou

Angelos Stergiou, PhD., DEA and BA in law, is the Head of the Social Insurance Research Hub at SARL. He is currently Professor of Social Insurance Law in the Law Department at the University of Thessaloniki.
He practices law since 1982 (member of the Thessaloniki Bar Association) and has undertaken research and teaching at various Universities in Greece and abroad in areas relating to social insurance, social welfare and health law. He has also been providing services to central administration agencies in the context of high level policy, capacity building and research projects (sectors: pensions, unemployment, disability, health and social care).
His research interests focus on the regulation of social insurance, health and social care policies; he is author and co-author of twenty books and has published in international edited books and journals. Since 2019 he is the Editor of the Journal of Social Insurance Law, published in Greek by the leading law publisher Sakkoulas.
Platon Tinios

OCCUPATIONAL WELFARE RESEARCH HUB
Platon Tinios, PhD., MA and BA, is the Head of the Occupational Welfare Research Hub and a member of the Social Insurance Research Hub at SARL. He is currently Associate Professor of Social Insurance Economics in the Department of Statistics and Insurance Science at the University of Pireaus.
He has undertaken academic research and teaching since 1993 in areas relating to pensions, unemployment, ageing, health and social care. He served as the Special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Greece from 1996 to 2004, specializing in the economic analysis of social policy. He has also worked as an economic adviser at the Ministries of National Economy and Health & Social Security. He was a member of the EU Social Protection Committee from 2000 to 2004.
His research interests include ageing populations, social policy, labour economics and public finance; he is author and co-author of ten books and has published in international edited books and journals.
Maria Tsirintani
HEALTH CARE RESEARCH HUB
Maria Tsirintani, PhD., MA and BA, is Professor of Health Information Systems in the Department of Business Administration (Social Policy Unit) at the University of West Attica. She also serves as a member of the Governing Body of the Social Administration Research Lab.
She has undertaken research and teaching since 1995 at the Athens University of Applied Sciences, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, the University of Pireus and the Athens National School of Public Administration in areas relating to Health Informatics, Telemedicine, Electronic Patient Records and Health and Welfare Information Management.
Prof. Tsirintani served as Head of the Department of Information Systems – Directorate of Informatics (2005-2007) at the 1st Attica Hygiene Region and member of the Telemedicine Group at the Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center of Athens.
Her main research interests focus on Health Informatics, Telemedicine and Electronic Patient Records; she is author and co-author of four books and has published in international edited books and journals.
George Tsobanoglou
SOCIAL ECONOMY AND SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP RESEARCH HUB
George Tsobanoglou, PhD., MA and BA, is a member of the Social Economy and Social Entrepreneurship Research Hub at SARL. He is currently Professor of Labour Studies in the Sociology Department at the University of the Aegean and serves as the Director of the Sociology of Work Laboratory. He is also President of the Research Committee on Sociotechnics and Sociological Practice at the International Sociological Association (ISA-RC26), and an Associate Fellow of the LEED Cities and Regions Network (OECD).
He has undertaken research and teaching since 1998 at the Arbetslivscentrum (University of Stockholm), the Institute of Sociology (University of Oslo), the Institute of Social Research (Oslo), the London School of Economics, the Carleton University and the Universities of Thessaloniki and Thessaly in areas relating to Sociology of Work, European Policies and Social Innovation. He has also been involved in various European and international projects.
His main research interests focus on globalization, poverty and development, migrant labour, social inclusion, social economy and social entrepreneurship; he is author and co-author of twenty books and has published in international edited books and journals.
John Yfantopoulos

John Yfantopoulos, PhD., MA and BA, is a member of the Social Insurance Research Hub and the Health Care Research Hub at SARL. He is currently em. Professor of Social Policy and Administration in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at the University of Athens.
He has undertaken research and teaching since 1988 in various Universities in Greece and abroad in areas relating to International, European and comparative, health, social security, occupational welfare and inclusion policies. He also serves as senior social policy consultant on behalf of national administrations and International Organizations (EU, World Health Organization, OECD, ILO and World Bank), while he is a key expert in EU and national projects on public governance, employment, social protection, health care, civil society and migration.
He served as the President of the National Board for Public Health and the National Centre for Social Research; he was also an elected Member of the Senate of the University of Athens, Director of the Red Cross Hospital, Vice President of the National Organization for Social Care, Board Member of the National Medicines Agency and the Organization Against Drugs.
His main research interests focus on the management and funding of health, social care, anti-poverty and employment policies; he is author and co-author of thirty books and has published in international edited books and journals.
